"You know when you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend."

What 's on this page

NOTE: the examples here are from the Beaverton Library's feeds; Darci pulled that URL since they had items in the calendar first.

  • To the left, a ContentPanels RSS panel, holding a widget with the Beaverton Library event RSS feed. There are several options for formatting (title, no title, etc.), but all you get is a list of the item titles(no location, no date, zip.) Limited function. Editable by a User like me.
  • To the right, a portlet (created by Darci Hanning) which holds the same feed, but is much more similar to the "Upcoming Events" calendar portlet default in each Plinkit. It needs customization (time is in GMT, date, line breaks, et al could use some work). If you link on the "[see more]" link, you'll get a single page showing the events in chron order, most recent at top, using the same plugin used on reading those Kids book lists (sinmap, whatever).)
  • Below that, I created another option for displaying EMS - an Inline Frame panel (ContentPanel) linking directly to Beaverton's calendar in EMS. This has its drawbacks -- mainly that people can get lost and access the WCCLS site windowed in ours. But, it's cool. If we were to use it, I would definitely put the frame on a page with only two columns (kill the right column) to make it format better.
  • If the Inline Frame is too weird, we can always just use a linked image in standard HTML (see our Good Reads linked page at: More Good Reads.
