Document Actions

Computer Services Available in the Library

CMCL offers Internet access on dedicated workstations as well as via WiFi. In addition to the electronic resources and the library catalog provided by WCCLS, Cedar Mill Community Library offers access to the following computer applications and services on workstations in the Library:

On the Internet Stations

  • Internet Explorer - web browser
  • Microsoft Word 2003 - view, edit and create Word documents
  • IrfanView - image viewer and editor
  • Microsoft Excel Viewer - allows viewing of all Excel formatted files

Computers are equipped with CDROM drives (read-only), as well as audio and USB ports.

Patrons can use up to one hour per day per patron account of Internet access using our workstations. WiFi access is free. No printing available for patrons using wi-fi access. Patrons must provide their own audio headsets.

On the Application Resource Stations

Computers are equipped with CDROM drives (read-only) and USB ports and audio access (bring your own headset). We offer access to the full Microsoft Office suite and additional databases listed below:

 Books In Print
This bibliographic database contains more than 5 million in-print, out-of-print, forthcoming, book, audio book, and video titles. Search in a variety of ways, including title, author, keyword for all books currently in print. This database includes nearly 300,000 full textbook reviews.
Chase's Calendar of Events
Contains 12,000 events, holidays, and special observances. Browse by date or name of person, event.
Columbia Granger's World of Poetry
Find over 11,000 full-text poems and more than 10,000 quotations here by keyword. Also find 140,000 poems in anthologies and collected works with title, author, subject and first line searching.
Microsoft Encarta Premium 2008 
This continually updated multimedia resource offers over 42,000 detailed articles by experts in their field, sound clips, illustrations, and videos, including 32 videos from the Discovery Channel. Also includes the Just for Kids version as well as Dictionary Tools with a dictionary, thesaurus and multi-language translator.
Heritage Quest Online
This database offers a unique collection of research materials for tracing family history and American culture with over 25,000 family and local histories, the entire U.S. Federal Census, PERSI, and other expanding collections. Complements Ancestry.com Library Edition, which is available at catalog workstations in  libraries of throughout Washington County.
Microsoft Office 2003 (including Access, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) 
Provides a powerful set of tools for organizing, accessing, formatting, designing, publishing, and sharing information.

Printing

Printing is 10 cents a page. You may deposit up to $10 toward your account for printing costs. Printing monies are separate from any fees or fines due the library. Stop at the Adult Services Desk for assistance.
