Library Cards
Thank you for your interest in obtaining a library card at the Cedar Mill Community Library. This card gives you access to the world of books and information available at your local libraries.
The card we issue entitles you to use all the public libraries in Washington County as a member of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS), and access to libraries around the country through our inter-library loan service.
Obtaining Your Library Card
Cards are free to all Washington County residents and to those residents of counties with reciprocal borrowing agreements (e.g. Multnomah, Clackamas, and Clark County). You must provide identification that has your current address on it, such as a driver’s license, personal check, mail addressed to you, etc.
Come into the library with this identification and fill out a simple form, and you'll receive your card immediately. Now you're ready to enjoy your community library!
This card also comes with some responsibilities. TREAT YOUR CARD WITH RESPECT. IT IS YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR LIBRARY MATERIALS!
- You are responsible for returning your books and other materials on time: 3-week checkout period for most items except DVDs (1 week.)
- You are responsible for lost and damaged books and materials. If you lose your library card CALL US IMMEDIATELY!
- You are responsible for all fines and fees placed on your card prior to the time you notify us.
Fees and/or fines in excess of $9.99 will result in suspension of borrowing privileges at Cedar Mill Community Library and all other member libraries in Washington County. This suspension remains in effect until the amount owed is less than $10.00.
Access to Library Card Information
Access to circulation records is granted only on presentation of your library card or ID with your correct address on it. The use of a card by any other person is at the sole discretion of the card-holder. Only cardholders, a person who presents a card to library staff, or a person who has a shared card "linked" to the cardholder's account may access the cardholder’s records or their reserved materials.
For parents who wish to have free access to their minor children’s record all the time (without needing to carry the child’s card), a "family" card is available. For couples or families who want to share access, a "shared" card is offered.
All circulation records of patrons including children are deemed private by Oregon State law [ORS 192.502].
