In early 2007, with population and library use increasing, the Cedar Mill Community Library board looked into expansion options. Central Bethany Development offered a 1,800 square foot retail space with very favorable leasing terms. The Bethany branch opened in July 2007 with a small collection of popular materials for adults and children.
Now Bethany's collection has reached over 18,000 items. It contains popular books, DVDs, CDs and magazines for children, teens, and adults. Users have full and free access to more than 1.3 million items found in Washington County Member libraries. Last month the total circulation reached over 27,000!
The library's weekly storytime is proving to be very popular. Totally Toddler, a second storytime, started May 5th. The Summer Reading Program will begin June 2nd. From June to August, there will be Family Storytimes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Please see the calendar for exact dates.
