The Cedar Mill Community Library's branch is the newest branch library in Washington County. In early 2007, with population and library use increasing, the Cedar Mill Community Library board looked into expansion options. Central Bethany Development offered a 1,800 square foot retail space with very favorable leasing terms. The Bethany branch opened in July 2007 with a small collection of popular materials for adults and children.

Now Bethany's collection has reached over 20,000 items. It contains popular books, DVDs, CDs and magazines for children, teens, and adults. Users have full and free access to more than 1.3 million items found in Washington County Member libraries. In the first fiscal year the total circulation reached over 263,000!

The library's weekly storytime programs are proving to be very popular. During the school year there are Family Storytimes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. The Summer Reading Program starts in June and ends mid-August.
